Now Accepting Auditions for The Play That Goes Wrong

Bainbridge Performing Arts is holding auditions for our October 2025 production of The Play That Goes Wrong Directed by Ken Michels.

DETAILS

  • Audition slots available by appointment; Monday, June 2nd, 6:30-9:30pm or Tuesday, June 3rd, 6:30-9:30pm, at Bainbridge Performing Arts (200 Madison Ave. N, Bainbridge Island)

  • Callbacks will be held in person by invitation on Saturday, June 28th 1:00pm-4:30pm at Bainbridge Performing Arts

  • Rehearsals will be August 9 - October 1 and will be four days a week (Mon, Tues & Thurs evenings, and Sat days). A more complete rehearsal schedule will be provided at callbacks. All rehearsals and performances will take place on Bainbridge Island.

  • Performances will be October 2-26, (7:30pm evening shows and 3:00pm Sunday matinees) at Bainbridge Performing Arts on Bainbridge Island.

  • 10-12 roles available for actors ages 18 and up. Please see the character list below- all gender identities will be considered for all roles.

  • Bainbridge Performing Arts is located on Bainbridge Island, a short walk from the ferry terminal. The 35-minute ferry leaves from Coleman dock on the Seattle waterfront.

REIMBURSEMENT

Walk-on ferry passes will be provided for our Seattle-area cast members for rehearsals and performances. Mileage reimbursements will be provided to our non-ferry riding cast members.

NEW: Starting from the 25-26 season, Bainbridge Performing Arts is pleased to offer a $400 stipend to all performers cast in our Mainstage productions, in recognition of the time and energy required to participate. While this stipend is intended to help offset the cost of participation, it is not a wage or salary and does not constitute employment. Participation remains a volunteer engagement, and the stipend is provided as a token of appreciation for your contribution to the artistic life of our community.

SYNOPSIS

Part Monty Python, part Sherlock Holmes, and 100% chaos—this Olivier Award–winning farce follows an amateur acting troupe, the Cornley Drama Society, as they attempt to perform a Victorian murder mystery play, "The Murder at Haversham Manor". The play itself is plagued by a series of catastrophic mishaps, both onstage and backstage, that take center stage. As the set crumbles, props disappear, and lines are flubbed beyond recognition, the cast members do their best to soldier on through the most catastrophically funny opening night you’ll ever see.

CHRIS- Head of Cornley Drama Society and Director of ‘Murder at Haversham Manor’ also plays INSPECTOR CARTER: an esteemed local inspector.

JONATHAN- Actor, plays CHARLES HAVERSHAM: the deceased

ROBERT- Actor, plays THOMAS COLLEYMORE: Charles’ old school friend

DENNIS- Actor, plays PERKINS: Charles’ butler

MAX- Actor, plays CECIL HAVERSHAM: Charles’ brother and ARTHUR THE GARDENER: the gardener at Haversham Manor

SANDRA- Actor, plays FLORENCE COLLEYMORE: Charles’ fiance and Thomas’ sister

CORNLEY POLYTECHNIC STAGE CREW- ​​The stage crew is responsible for moving scenery and props, but their clumsy attempts often lead to unexpected and often funny errors, contributing to the show's mayhem.
