DETAILS
Audition slots available by appointment; Tuesday, May 5th between 6:30 and 9:00pm at Bainbridge Performing Arts (200 Madison Ave. N, Bainbridge Island) and Wednesday, May 6th between 6:30 and 9:00pm at Theatre Puget Sound (TPS - Armory, 305 Harrison St, Seattle, Studio E) in Seattle
Callbacks will be held in person by invitation on Saturday, May 9th from 11:30am-4:30pm at Bainbridge Performing Arts
REHEARSALS
Rehearsals will be August 11th - September 30th and will be four days a week (Mon, Tues & Thurs evenings and Sat days - might be subject to change). A more complete rehearsal schedule will be provided at callbacks. All rehearsals and performances will take place on Bainbridge Island.
Performances will be October 1st-25th, 2026 - 7:30pm evening shows, one 2:00pm Saturday matinee on 10/3 and 3:00pm Sunday matinees, at Bainbridge Performing Arts on Bainbridge Island.
Roles:
3 children, ages 8-13; 2 male-presenting and 1 female-presenting
these roles are vocally demanding and auditioners should have some vocal and dance experience
4 female-presenting adults
2 male-presenting adults

ABOUT BPA
Bainbridge Performing Arts is located on Bainbridge Island, a short walk from the ferry terminal. The 35-minute ferry leaves from Colman dock on the Seattle waterfront and walk-on ferry passes will be provided for our Seattle-area cast members for rehearsals and performances. Mileage reimbursements will be provided to our non-ferry riding cast members.
Bainbridge Performing Arts is pleased to offer a $400 stipend to all performers cast in our Mainstage productions, in recognition of the time and energy required to participate. While this stipend is intended to help offset the cost of participation, it is not a wage or salary and does not constitute employment. Participation remains a volunteer engagement, and the stipend is provided as a token of appreciation for your contribution to the artistic life of our community.

For your audition, please prepare two songs, verse and chorus; one pop/ folk and one musical theatre. No monologue is needed.
An accompanist will be provided, please bring your sheet music legibly and clearly marked, in a 3 ring binder. No a cappella, lead sheets, or tracks please.

SYNOPSIS
Fun Home features a small, character-driven cast led by three versions of Alison Bechdel (Adult, Medium, Small) navigating memories of her closeted father, Bruce, and her mother, Helen. Key roles include the complex parents, Alison's brothers Christian and John, and her first love, Joan. The musical requires strong acting and vocal skills, with themes of memory, family, and LGBTQ+ identity.
CHARACTERS
Alison (Adult): (Mezzo-Soprano) The narrator, a lesbian cartoonist looking back at her childhood.
Medium Alison: (Mezzo-Soprano) Alison in college, discovering her sexuality and identity.
Small Alison: (Alto) Alison at age 10, observant and imaginative.
Bruce Bechdel: (Baritone) Alison’s closeted, volatile father who runs a funeral home.
Helen Bechdel: (Mezzo-Soprano) Alison’s mother, struggling with her marriage and life.
Joan: (Mezzo-Soprano) A confident college student who introduces Medium Alison to her sexuality.
Christian Bechdel: Alison's older brother, age 10-15.
John Bechdel: Alison's younger brother, age 6-9.
Roy / Mark / Pete / Bobby Jeremy: One actor plays several young men who have encounters with Bruce.
