Now Scheduling Auditions for bitLAB’s “Fishbowl”

On November 15th from 4pm to 6pmBainbridge Island Theatre Lab (bitLAB) will hold auditions for their February production of “Fishbowl” by Catherine Rush, developed in partnership with Bainbridge Performing Arts as part of BPA’s Studio Series. Auditions will take place at BPA (200 Madison Ave N. Bainbridge Island, WA 98110)

This dramatic production, written by Catherine Rush and directed by Christen Karle Muir, will run February 19-22 in the Cynthia Sears Studio at Bainbridge Performing Arts.

What is the BPA Studio Series?

Intended to complement BPA’s Mainstage program of large-scale productions and musicals, our Studio Series presents an ongoing collection of more intimate productions, developed in collaboration with local theatre artists/groups, and performed at BPA in the Cynthia Sears Studio. Through this model, BPA provides access to resources such as performance space, production support, and administrative infrastructure, to support artistic development, provide a platform for new works, and amplify the voices of both emerging and established artists in our community.

Bainbridge Island Theater Lab is a dynamic collective of performing artists, writers, and producers dedicated to discovering, developing, and producing works by Bainbridge Island and Northwest Playwrights. Their mission is to nurture and showcase fresh theatrical voices, providing a platform with the support of Bainbridge Performing Arts for innovative storytelling and creative exploration. Production Details

All rehearsals will be led by bitLAB and held at Bainbridge Performing Arts. Performances will take place at Bainbridge Performing Arts, located on Bainbridge Island, a short walk from the ferry terminal. The 35-minute ferry leaves from Coleman Dock on the Seattle waterfront, and walk-on ferry passes will be provided for  Seattle-area cast members for rehearsals and performances. Mileage reimbursement is available for cast members who do not use the ferry system.

Audition Details

Audition slots are available by appointment on Saturday, November 15th from 4 - 6 pm

Auditioners will be notified of their audition time and receive sides from the play approximately 2-3 days in advance of the audition. They do not need to be memorized. You do not need to prepare monologues from other material.

Callbacks

In-person callbacks will be held by invitation on Thursday, November 20th from 6:00-9:00 PM at Bainbridge Performing Arts.

Rehearsals

Rehearsals will take place Monday, January 12th to Wednesday, February 18th. A more complete rehearsal schedule will be provided at callbacks.

Performances

Performances will run from Thursday, February 19th to Sunday, February 22nd, 2025 at Bainbridge Performing Arts.

Synopsis

World renowned scientist Dr. Kendra Swope is just weeks away from achieving her most cherished goal: escaping her own species. In an underwater habitat she designed, Kendra works with her only friend, marine biologist Dr. Mike Coleman, finishing up her work for Robertson Oceanographic Technologies (ROT). But the waters are far from calm – a young ecoterrorist is slowing the work, Mike is talking to fish, and the CEO of ROT doesn’t want to cut Kendra loose. As events compound, Kendra is confronted by her own limited ideas of love and the unquenchable human need for connection.
