Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra Presents: East of the Sun, West of the Moon
May 28 - 30, 2027
The Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra closes its season with East of the Sun, West of the Moon, a program inspired by myth, imagination, and the pull of distant horizons. The evening opens with the West Coast premiere of East of the Sun, West of the Moon by rising composer Leigha Amick, a work that draws on the timeless Norwegian folktale of the same name to create a sound world both evocative and luminous. Jean Sibelius’s En Saga follows, a tone poem unfolding without words—mysterious, searching, and filled with the vast stillness of Nordic landscapes. The concert culminates in Richard Strauss’s epic masterpiece Don Quixote, a richly imaginative set of variations that brings Cervantes’ beloved dreamer to life. Superstar cellist Nathan Chan takes center stage as the errant knight, in a performance that is by turns heroic, humorous, and deeply human.

The program also highlights the incredible talent of young musicians from our own community, as winners of our Kitsap-only Young Artists Competition take the stage as soloists. It’s an inspiring afternoon for the whole family—full of energy, discovery, and unforgettable music!
Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra Presents: Carnival & the Countess
February 12 - 14, 2027
Step into a world of celebration and revelation with Carnival & the Countess! Hector Berlioz’s Roman Carnival Overture launches the evening with irresistible energy, alive with rhythmic vitality and vivid orchestral color. Guitarist Eli Schille-Hudson brings warmth and virtuosity to Heitor Villa-Lobos’s Guitar Concerto, a work that dances between brilliance and intimacy, infused with the spirit of Brazilian folk music and song. The second half unveils a powerful and rarely heard masterpiece: Dora Pejačević’s Symphony in F-sharp minor. A pioneering Croatian composer of the early 20th century, the Countess Dora Pejačević crafted a symphony of sweeping late-Romanticism and striking individuality—by turns impassioned, luminous, and deeply expressive.

The Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra opens its 2026–2027 season with a program of electrifying Russian masterworks. Modest Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain conjures a world of shadow and spectacle, its vivid orchestral colors evoking both the magic and menace of the fall season. Pianist Mia Kim joins the orchestra for Sergei Rachmaninoff’s beloved Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor—a work of sweeping lyricism and emotional depth that has captivated audiences for generations. The concert concludes with Dmitri Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 1 in F minor. Composed in his youth at the threshold of a remarkable and turbulent career, this bold and imaginative work reveals a singular voice already brimming with wit, drama, and defiance.

For the first time since 2017, the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra joins forces with Bainbridge Chorale for an all-French concert that revels in pageantry, color, and shared musical experience. The program features the brilliant brass of Dukas’s La Péri, the elegant lyricism of Fauré’s Pavane, the sacred intimacy of Messiaen's O sacrum convivium, and the luminous orchestral colors of Debussy’s Nocturnes.
