Holiday Baroque with the BSO

Members of the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra, along with special guest artists, come together for an intimate afternoon of works that showcase the beauty, balance, and creativity of the Baroque era.

Local Soprano Madeleine Smith joins the orchestra for Bach’s stunning yet rarely-heard “Alles mit Gott und nichts ohn’ ihn,” BWV 1127. Manfredini’s Christmas Concerto and Händel’s Water Music Suite No. 2 highlight the elegance and craftsmanship that shaped the musical language of the 18th century. 

Seattle-based recorder virtuoso Bryan Boehnke joins us James Oswald’s Sonata on Scots Tunes blends classical form with traditional folk melodies. The program concludes with Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 in G major, featuring BSO assistant concertmaster Taylor DeCastro in a virtuosic piece that brings the ensemble together in a spirited finale.
