BSO Presents "New Stage, New World"

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 11 AT 7:30 PM & SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 12 AT 3 PM

Join us for a grand opening concert, led by conductor Daren Weissfisch, featuring the powerful piano soloist Milica Jelača Jovanović. The evening will commence with Tchaikovsky’s Festival Coronation March, followed by Florence Price's American Piano Concerto in One Movement, and will conclude with Dvořák’s iconic "New World Symphony."

About Daren Weissfisch:

A seasoned conductor, Weissfisch has led ensembles across the U.S., Mexico, and Europe. Currently the Principal Conductor for the Tacoma Opera, he has also been a pivotal figure in the Orquesta Sinfónica Esperanza Azteca Sinaloa and has collaborated with renowned artists globally.

About Milica Jelača Jovanović 

Milica Jelača Jovanović was born into a family of professional musicians in Belgrade, Serbia, where she began giving recitals at the age of 8.  She has performed in the United States, Canada and Europe.  Her performances were described as "extraordinary", “inspired”, “magnificent”, “poetic”, while the critics praised the "beauty", "expressiveness" and "refinement" of her interpretation and called her a “superb pianist with tremendous character… a supremely responsive musician”.  Ms. Jelača Jovanović is currently Professor of Piano and Director of the Keyboard Program at Western Washington University in Bellingham.
