May - June 2020 BPA Gallery: Vanishing Bainbridge

Vanishing Bainbridge

Photos of Bainbridge Island by Joel Sackett

Head to Bainbridge Island Historical Museum for the off-site First Friday Art Walk May 1 and an enjoyable evening of art and friends. The two-month exhibit continues at Bainbridge Performing Arts through June 28.

The Bainbridge Island Historical Museum collaborated with local photographer, Joel Sackett, to produce the exhibit, “Vanishing Bainbridge.” The exhibit serves as a photographic and textual history of our built environment – before it’s too late – that will eventually become part of the museum’s permanent collection.

The Island’s built environment – its human-made buildings, gathering places, transportation systems, infrastructure, parks, farms, gardens, neighborhoods, and other cultural artifacts – is changing rapidly and all too often disappearing without leaving an historic record. Collectively, these are works of art, narratives of our culture, and expressions of our identity.
