Debbie MacLeod, Development Director
A high school theatre kid, Debbie earned a degree in Communications from the University of California at San Diego, and completed a teaching credential program at San Francisco State University. While still a sophomore at UCSD, Debbie began work on the founding team of AVID, Advancement Via Individual Determination, a college readiness system for elementary through higher education that is designed to increase school-wide learning and performance. Over the next 30 years, Debbie worked at AVID in numerous capacities, from tutor, to editor of ACCESS (the AVID quarterly journal), to project manager, and archivist.
Debbie moved to Bainbridge Island in 2005, and enrolled her daughter in BPA’s Theatre School program shortly thereafter. After serving on the Theatre School Committee, Debbie joined the BPA Board of Trustees in 2009. She served three and a half terms, with over four years as Board President. An avid photographer, her hobbies also include knitting, cooking, and travel.
“I am honored and thrilled to join the outstanding staff of Bainbridge Performing Arts. I have seen first-hand the positive impact BPA has on the lives of theatre school students, performers, and audience members, and it is a privilege to take a role in expanding engagement opportunities for youth and adults alike. BPA has been an integral part of the Bainbridge Island community for 62 years, and is an exemplary model of a community performing arts center. It is my goal to build for the future of the organization by stewarding our current donors and engaging the next generation of supporters.”
