Costume design is a far reaching field that includes not only initial drawings, but color story, historical research, drafting patterns, draping, sewing and assembly, and all the associated arts like silkscreening, dying, garment aging, leatherwork, and (not to be diminished,) the craft of thrift and staying organized. Students will get background on all that is involved in the trade, plus get their hands (and faces) dirty putting their new knowledge in action.
Because students will be using a variety of materials throughout the week that may include paints and dyes, they are asked not to wear their nicest clothing.
Students also taking Stage Combat with Josh Williamson can be dropped off with a lunch and will be supervised between classes.
