BPA Theatre School is Now Enrolling Summer Classes

BPA Theatre School is Now Enrolling
Summer Classes run this July at Bainbridge Performing Arts (BPA)

BPA Theatre School enrollment for summer classes is now open for pupils of all ages. Under the experienced leadership of Katharine Beddoe, students (ages 4 – 7) in Creative Drama will explore the elements of theatre and learn to use their faces, bodies, and voices to tell a story. Katharine will also lead students (ages 6 – 8) as they learn two song-and-dance numbers and engage in goofy, imaginative skill-building theatre games in Introduction to Musical Theatre.

BPA Theatre School is thrilled to offer two exciting Production Classes this season: Cyrano de Burger Shack for ages 8 – 13 is led by instructors Buddy Todd and Crystal Johnston. Cyrano is king of the local Burger Shack, but he can't seem to win the love of his best friend, Roxanne. When Roxanne confesses her crush on the new burger-flipper, Christian, Cyrano decides that playing Cupid is better than sitting out of the game. An updated, modern-day version of Edmond Rostand’s Cyrano de Bergerac, this rollicking musical features hit contemporary pop songs that will have audiences cheering. Legally Blonde Jr. for ages 12 – 19 will be led by instructors Pete Benson, Lisa Mandelkorn, and Heather Dawson. Legally Blonde JR. follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes, snobbery and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. When Elle’s boyfriend, Warner, dumps her and heads to Harvard, claiming she’s not “serious” enough, Elle takes matters into her own hands, crafting a showy song-and-dance personal essay and charming her way into law school, and ultimately discovering that books and looks aren’t mutually exclusive.

All classes will be held at Bainbridge Performing Arts, 200 Madison Ave. N. with the exception of Creative Drama, which will be held at BPA’s new rehearsal, teaching, and administrative space at 284 Madrona Way, Suite 120. Aptly named “Studio M,” (for Madrona) we look forward to welcoming students and performers to the annex this spring and summer!
