BPA GOES TO THE MOVIES

Bainbridge Performing Arts and Far Away Entertainment, known around the Island as Bainbridge Cinemas, are proud to announce an exciting new partnership to bring live theatre to the Pavillion. BPA will move production of live performances to Theater 3 of Bainbridge Cinemas at the Pavilion during the renovation of what will soon be re-named “The Buxton Center for Bainbridge Performing Arts.”

When Bainbridge is ready to return to the theater, we’ll be ready too.

Theatergoers of both stage and screen will be pleased to return to the Pavilion after a long intermission due to COVID-19 to catch the latest blockbuster one night and return for The EDGE Improv or a concert from Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra the next. Thanks to Far Away Entertainment’s existing infrastructure, concessions such as popcorn and soft drinks will be available before the show. After the performance, the Pavilion’s many dining options will make for an exciting night out.

For the Pavilion, in general, we are now moving enough fresh air through the building to completely exchange the air inside every 10 minutes (6 exchanges per hour). We have added filters (both MERV-13 and UV) to the inbound air exchangers so that the air inside is CLEANER than the air outside. We have also increased the indoor air pressure so that when a door or window opens our clean air leaks OUT rather than the outside air getting in. Finally, for the Theaters, we are monitoring the air quality 24-7, and although we cannot directly detect COVID-19, we CAN monitor the exhaled breath with which it is spread by monitoring CO2. Our CO2 levels are consistently below 450 ppm (actually 431 ppm today), which counts as being as fresh as if you were outside.

BPA plans to produce a variety of concerts, small plays, improv shows, and more through 2023, when the new Buxton Center is tentatively scheduled for its grand opening. However, we will always put the health and safety of our patrons, performers, and staff above all else, and will only produce events in a manner that follows the latest health guidelines.
