BPA Gallery First Friday Art Walk April 7: “The Many Faces of Gaia”
BPA Gallery First Friday Art Walk: “The Many Faces of Gaia”
Paintings by Deborah Jane Milton, PhD
First Friday Art Walk: April 7 @ 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Exhibit continues throughout April at Bainbridge Performing Arts (BPA)
Join us in the BPA Gallery April 7 for an artist reception and a fun evening of art, food, and friends. The April exhibit features the spirit-guided paintings of Bainbridge artist Deborah Jane Milton, PhD who teaches ART as a way of knowing, as a way of transforming, as a way of embracing the issues of our time on this planet. She currently teaches Painting Poetic Prayers for the World to anyone interested in creative expression. Guided by spirit, she describes the intuitive prayer painting process as “good medicine for whatever ails us, our culture, our world.” With Prayer Painting, she paints with intention, transforming “grief to grace, the scared to the sacred, anger to compassion, loneliness and estrangement to belonging and community.”
Certain to be a centerpiece at Milton’s month-long exhibit in the BPA Gallery, Deborah’s painting “S/He Who Hears the Whales Cry” has been in two juried shows in the past year: Collective Visions Gallery in Bremerton and the Best of the Northwest Show in Port Townsend. The same painting graces the cover of the 2017 Mago Work Calendar and serves as February’s image. In addition it is featured in Deborah’s handcrafted artist’s chapbook called: Ode to Gaia, accompanied by this text: We can choose love as our true compass. With love as our bedrock, everything changes. The chapbooks can be purchased at the First Friday Art Walk or directly from Deborah. Learn more about her work online at www.deborahmiltonartist.com or www.awakeningstorylines.com.
