Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra (BSO) Auditions for the 2012-2013 Season August 26 at BPA


The Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra is holding auditions for the 2012-2013 Season. Players of all instruments are encouraged to audition, especially oboe, bassoon, French horn, violin, viola and basses. Celebrate the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra’s 40th Anniversary season by arranging an audition today.

Auditions will be held August 26 at BPA, 200 Madison Avenue North, Bainbridge Island. Musicians are requested to arrive 15 minutes early and look for signs to the warm-up and audition rooms. Those auditioning should prepare two contrasting works of their choice that display the depth of their musical sensitivity and range of technical ability. They should prepare solo material, etudes or excerpts and come prepared to play a total of five-eight minutes of music. Percussionists should prepare excerpts or solos of their choice. Timpani, snare and bass drum instruments will be available at the audition site. Auditioning on other instruments is allowed but players will need to provide their own instruments for the audition (ex. Triangle, tambourine). Sight-reading for all instruments may be requested; music will be provided on site.

Rehearsals, which are generally held during the eight weeks prior to each concert set, begin September 26, on Wednesday evenings, 7:00 – 9:30 p.m. at BPA, unless otherwise arranged.

Performance dates for the BSO’s 2012-2013 four-concert season are November 10 & 11, 2012, plus February 23 & 24, April 13 & 14, and May 31 & June 2, 2013. New this season, the BSO will celebrate its first-annual gala, “Savor the Symphony,” on November 17, 2012.
