The Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra is holding auditions for the 2015-2016 Season. The BSO has current openings for horn, bassoon, violin, viola, and double bass. Players of all other instruments are encouraged to audition for the substitute musician list. Interested parties are encouraged to contact BSO General Manager Clara Hanson at or 206.465.0455.

Auditions will be Sunday, August 30, from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. at BPA, 200 Madison Avenue North, Bainbridge Island. Musicians are requested to arrive 15 minutes ahead of their appointment and look for signs to the warm-up and audition rooms. Those auditioning should prepare two contrasting works of their choice that display the depth of their musical sensitivity and range of technical ability. Come prepared to play a total of five-eight minutes of music. Sight-reading for all instruments will be requested; music will be provided on site. Those interested in auditioning for principal positions will be asked to prepare excerpts.

The Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra rehearses on Wednesday evenings, 7:00 – 9:30 p.m. at Bainbridge Performing Arts. Performances during the 2015 – 2016 Season are November 14 & 15, 2015 and February 20 & 21, April 16 & 17, and June 3 & 5, 2016. This year’s enticing four-concert season features new music by living composers including Christopher Rogerson’s “Luminosity” and Mason Bates’ “Mothership.” The BSO will also perform Carl Nielsen’s “Symphony No. 3, ‘Sinfonia espansiva’,” Beethoven’s “Fourth Piano Concerto,” Dvorak’s “Symphony No 8,” and Ravel’s dazzling orchestration of Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition,” and more. Music has always been at the heart of the BPA mission, and the organization’s commitment stands undiminished to this day. It has the backing of a well-organized Board and a thriving institution. It takes a lively community of volunteer musicians and listeners to make such a commitment sustainable, and BPA thanks the BSO musicians and audience members for their part in keeping the classical music program lively and growing. Please join us for the BSO’s 2015 - 2016 Season and celebrate the orchestra’s thriving contribution to the arts on Bainbridge Island.
