Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved stories and the classic animated film, Disney’s THE LITTLE MERMAID is an unforgettable love story for the ages. With music by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken, this fishy fable will capture your heart with its irresistible songs including Under the Sea, Kiss the Girl, and Part of Your World.
Featuring the winning artistic team that led BPA’s production of The Drowsy Chaperone last season, Disney’s THE LITTLE MERMAID is directed by Joanna Hardie, whose choreography has also been seen at BPA in Little Shop of Horrors, Shrek, The Full Monty, Chicago, The Rocky Horror Show, and A Chorus Line. Josh Anderson, fresh off the sets of Amadeus, Mary Poppins, and Hair, returns to provide music direction, and Debbie Pierce – familiar for her work with Evita, Peter Pan, and Jesus Christ Superstar at Ovation! – provides choreography.
Together, this creative directing trio leads an enticing cast of newcomers and BPA veterans, including Myriah Riedel (ARIEL), Riley Donahue (PRINCE ERIC), Jasmine Joshua (URSULA), Rachel Brinn (SCUTTLE), Jesse Smith (SEBASTIAN), Matt Eldridge (GRIMSBY), Trey Field Bennett (FLOUNDER), Gregory Conn (TRITON), Joey Chapman (FLOTSAM), and Teagan Howlett (JETSAM). MERSISTERS include Barbi-Jo Smith, Jordyn Carrillo, Mikeala Karter, Tina Kirkpatrick, Alana Morrison, and Rebecca DuRivage-Jacobs, and the ENSEMBLE features Josh Williamson, Lucien Caro, Justin Silver, Job Koscho, Nicole Billies, Andrea Ogg, Aimee Budge, Paul Depew, and Dylan Moroch.
Destined to become a new favorite, Disney’s THE LITTLE MERMAID is suitable for fun-loving, fanciful dreamers of all ages! It features music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater, with book by Doug Wright based on the Hans Christian Andersen story and the Disney film produced by Howard Ashman and John Musker, written and directed by John Musker and Ron Clements. It was originally produced by Disney Theatrical Productions and is produced at BPA by special arrangement with Music Theatre International.
