Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra presents Movie Music LIVE!
A Trio of Spring Performances April 15 – 17
Friday & Saturday @ 7:30 p.m. + Sunday @ 3:00 p.m.
At Bainbridge Performing Arts (BPA)
Enjoy a whole evening of music from film, TV, the stage, and video games! From swashbuckling Pirates of the Caribbean to the epic How to Train Your Dragon, Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra’s April concerts will have audience members moving in their seats. Also on the program are John Williams’ haunting Three Pieces from Schindler’s List for violin and orchestra, plus music from Halo, Bounty Hunter, and the classic musical South Pacific. This program features acclaimed violinist Brittany Boulding. On Sunday only, members of the Bainbridge Island Youth Orchestra join the BSO for a side by side performance.
A Pacific Northwest native, violinist Brittany Boulding has performed regularly with the Seattle Opera and Seattle Symphony, where she is now a new member. She has been Concertmaster of the Northwest Sinfonietta and the Auburn Symphony as well as Associate Concertmaster of the Pacific Northwest Ballet. She has appeared as soloist with the Auburn Symphony, Cascade Symphony, National Repertory Orchestra, New Haven Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta de Camara Concierto Sur (Cuba) and Spoleto USA. Ms. Boulding grew up performing and recording with her family, the internationally acclaimed Magical Strings.
Joining the BSO for the Sunday, April 17 performance, Bainbridge Island Youth Orchestra (BIYO) comprises two string ensembles: the Senior Orchestra, and the Sinfonietta, both led by Conductor Tigran Arakelyan. BIYO plays three concerts annually on Bainbridge Island, plus a side-by-side concert each spring with the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra, and a local public and private school outreach tour throughout the year. BIYO serves a vital role in the community, presenting young musicians with the opportunity to learn ensemble skills that are essential to becoming advanced musicians.
Conductor Wesley Schulz made his Seattle Symphony Orchestra debut in a sold-out performance with singer/songwriter Gregory Alan Isakov in February 2015. As the 2014-2015 Conducting Fellow Schulz served as cover conductor for Maestro Ludovic Morlot, led seven world premieres at the Merriman Family Young Composers Workshop and assisted with recordings for the symphony’s Grammy-winning label, Seattle Symphony Media. In addition to serving as Music Director and Conductor of Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra Schulz is Director of Orchestras at University of Puget Sound and Music Director of Seattle Festival Orchestra. Upcoming and recent conducting engagements include the Port Angeles Symphony, Auburn Symphony, Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra and the Juneau Symphony.
