Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra Auditions are August 21 at BPA

Announce Auditions for the 2016 – 2017 Season
Sunday, August 21, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Bainbridge Performing Arts (BPA)

The Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra is holding auditions for the 2016 – 2017 Season. The BSO has current openings for English horn, bassoon, French horn, trumpet, violin, viola, and double bass. Players of all other instruments are encouraged to audition for the substitute musician list. Interested parties are encouraged to contact BSO General Manager Larry Telles at  

Auditions will be Sunday, August 21, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at BPA, 200 Madison Avenue North, Bainbridge Island. Musicians are requested to arrive 15 minutes ahead of their appointment and look for signs to the warm-up and audition rooms. Those auditioning should prepare two contrasting works of their choice that display the depth of their musical sensitivity and range of technical ability. Come prepared to play a total of five-eight minutes of music. Sight-reading for all instruments will be requested; music will be provided on site. Those interested in auditioning for principal positions will be asked to prepare excerpts.

The Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra rehearses on Wednesday evenings, 7:00 – 9:30 p.m. at Bainbridge Performing Arts. Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra and Maestro Wesley Schulz return for our four-concert classical series featuring a star-studded cast of guest performers, masterworks, beloved favorites, original compositions, and special collaborations. Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra kicks off its season with “The British are Coming!” – a program showcasing English greats on Novermber 12 & 13, 2016. The BSO teams up with the University of Puget Sound Symphony Orchestra for “Mahler’s Symphony No. 1” in a special set of off-site performances on March 4 & 5, 2017. The BSO and the Bainbridge Chorale join forces for another off-site set of concerts and extraordinary partnership with “Sacred and Profane: Carmina burana” on April 22 & 23, 2017. BSO’s “Season Finale” on June 2 & 4, 2017 turns to celebrated American composers including Leonard Bernstein, John Williams, and Aaron Copland. This program also showcases the 2017 winner of the BSO’s annual Young Artist Concerto Competition.

Music has always been at the heart of the BPA mission, and the organization’s commitment stands undiminished to this day. It has the backing of a well-organized Board and a thriving institution.
