Open Call for Directors for the 2016 One Acts at BPA, Deadline July 15

Open Call for Directors
for the 2016 One Acts at Bainbridge Performing Arts (BPA)
Produced by Tom Challinor and Swinging Hammer Productions
Saturday, May 2 @ 7:30 p.m.

Bainbridge Performing Arts is pleased to issue an Open Call to Directors for the 2016 One Acts, which run January 22 – 24, 2016 at BPA. Produced by Tom Challinor and Swinging Hammer Productions, the One Acts offer a collection of one-act plays by David Ives – a delicious antidote for the gloominess of winter. Time Magazine extolls Ives’ work, calling it “Theatre that aerobicizes the brain and tickles the heart. Ives is a mordant comic who has put the play back in playwright…A wondrous wordmaster.”

Challinor, who’s familiar locally for his leadership of the BPA Shakespeare Society, says, “Theatre artists who want to try their hands at directing can have difficulty finding the opportunities for various reasons. The collaborative nature of this production will allow for learning from others with different stage experiences, making it ideal for both seasoned and rising directors.” This call is also an opportunity for directors interested in establishing (or diversifying) a relationship with Bainbridge Performing Arts. Interested parties are requested to submit their qualifications directly to Tom Challinor at no later than July 15, 2015. Respondents may also mail their qualifications to Bainbridge Performing Arts, Attn: Tom Challinor, 200 Madison Ave North, Bainbridge Island, WA 98110, or send by fax to 206.842.0195.

All submittals should include 1) the respondent’s name, address, contact numbers and email address,
2) professional credits, and 3) references. We are also seeking qualified production personnel for the One Acts, and parties with appropriate credentials are encouraged to respond. Directors are paid positions, and all production positions are compensated.

BPA is supported, in part, by Bainbridge Community Foundation and One Call for All.
