David Ives’s All in the Timing ran off-Broadway for over 600 performances, winning an Outer Critics Circle Playwriting Award. In the 1995-96 season, it was the most performed play in the country, after Shakespeare of course. This production features six of the many short plays by Ives: Time Flies, Words, Words, Words, The Mystery at Twicknam Vicarage, The Philadelphia, Mere Mortals, and Variations on the Death of Trotsky. While the playwright is better known for his recent hits Venus in Fur and The School for Lies, these short satirical snapshots are smart and funny, but also poignant at moments, reminding us to think while we laugh.
