April BPA Gallery: " Air, Water, and Soil: Local Farmers on a Changing Environment"
Photography by Joel Sackett
First Friday Art Walk: Friday, April 1 @ 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.; Exhibit runs throughout April

Join us in the BPA Gallery for an artist reception, a fun evening of art, food, and friends, and a good way to honor Earth Day. This exhibit is informed by photographer Joel Sackett’s encounters with local farmers who shared their observations from the 2015 growing season, as well as their concerns for the future of small scale farming. The exhibit features photographs taken during the 2015 growing season. Different than previous seasons Joel has witnessed through the camera, the 2015 growing season brought a drought that went on for many, many weeks. Joel saw how it affected the farmers, and he could feel their anxiety. He heard questions like, “Will there be enough water to get through the season? How will it affect the crops? Will we have enough energy to get through the heat, extra work, and growing cycles?” These questions form the inquiry behind the photographs and text panels on display. Joel says, “Farmers are more connected to the environment than most of us. They can feel it in their bones, the air, and the soil. We should support them, and we should hear what they have to say.”
