CHILDREN OF FIRE is a short film created by the 7th –12th grade, fall semester, Film Production class at West Sound Academy (WSA) in Poulsbo. The Sci-Fi film premieres at BPA.
During the course of this three-month project, students spent 48 classroom hours creating sets, costumes, acting and directing their very own 1950’s style, black and white, science fiction drama.
“The day we threw spaghetti ‘cat brains’ at the star of our film, is the day I knew we really had something special,” said Hurley. “Plastic monster masks, toy laboratory animals and extremely fake mustaches…I think Ed Wood would be very proud of us.”
WSA’s Film Production class members include Shaun Christean, Lulu Day, Conner Haugen, Hailey Hunter, Garret Johnson, Stian Josok, Evan Lenius, Jack Nunn, Helena Peterson, Sam Phillips, Izzy Sackett, Tess Schorn, Philipp Sonnenfeld, Wenjie Yang, Sage Hanson, Hannah Beck, Chintu Devaresh Vignesh, and David Grytten-Postma.
Students will continue exploring the art of film creation from conception to production in the January and spring terms. A premiere presentation of all films created will be held toward the end of each class session.
