Shake off the winter doldrums and enter the magical, musical world of Prokofiev, where French Horns play the part of a wolf who just might eat somebody, and stringed instruments represent a boy overcoming his fears. Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra is pleased to offer this enchanting musical program to entertain youngsters and their families, and encourage potential future musicians.

Pre-program activities in the lobby of the theater begin at 9:45 a.m. and will include an opportunity for children to make their own puppets under the guidance and sponsorship of KiDiMu staff. Participants will also have the opportunity to meet musicians of the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra, and try out percussion instruments, with an instrument “petting zoo” and instrument demonstrations.

The program in the theater begins at 10:30 a.m. and includes both the “Peter and the Wolf” screening and an entertaining puppet performance on stage. BPA Artistic Director Steven Fogell designed original puppets specifically for the show. The puppets will focus and mesmerize the children as puppeteers help characterize and reinforce the on-screen performance of “Peter and the Wolf.”

Cameron Snow, of Snow Productions, video-recorded the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra’s March 2009 performance of Prokofiev’s “Peter and the Wolf.”The DVD end product features both the performance by the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra (narrated by Guy Sidora), and interviews with soloists. Sale of the DVD, and public showings was licensed by G. Schirmer, Inc.
