BPA’s commitment to local playwrights, composers, new works and new horizons is revealed by the many new works showcased during recent seasons: Allen Strange’s Brief Visits to Imaginary Places: World premiere of a suite of programmatic “ear movies” about four fantasy lands taken from contemporary literature, commissioned for Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra; Stage Off : Playwriting Competition One-Acts; Last Poem on Earth; A Jazz Requiem: an original work by Bonnie J. Wallace and Paul Lewis based on the poetry of Bainbridge Island writers and featuring the Bainbridge Chorale; Word Series: Readings by Bainbridge Island students recognized in ACT Theatre’s Young Playwrights Program; The River Boys: Bob McAllister’s legendary Halloween story; Joe Bean: Bob McAllister’s celebrated rock opera based on the book of Job; Harry Tracy, A Bainbridge Bandit: John Ellis' and Andrew Shield’s original musical comedy melodrama based on the true life of Harry Tracy, an infamous outlaw of the early 1900’s; The Recollection of Flight: Paul Lewis’ original musical set in WWII about American soldiers in Anzio, Italy; and BPA Theatre School: Dozens of original works produced for BPA Theatre School students, grades 1 - 9.

Successful submissions will specifically address how the material and the production will meet the stated criteria.
