AUDITION REQUIREMENTS: Parties interested in participating in BPA AUDITIONS are requested to prepare one 1-minute monologue and if auditioning for the musicals, one 2-minute song as well. Parties who recently prepared a piece for Theatre Puget Sound’s General Auditions are urged to audition for BPA as well. Auditions are at Bainbridge Performing Arts, 200 Madison Avenue North, Bainbridge Island. Those auditioning are requested to bring an acting resume and head shot, if available.   • One 1 - 2-minute memorized monologue
  • Bring a headshot or a current picture to the audition

ROLES for adults, ages 20 and older:

  • Matthew - a man in his thirties
  • Lisa - a woman in her thirties
  • Adrian - a British man in his early thirties
  • Cory - a woman in her late twenties
  • Frank - a man or woman, fifties

 

FEBRUARY 21 & 23: BPA Auditions for the full monty

REHEARSALS: March – May, 2012

RUN DATES: May 11, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 25, 26 and 27 (+ a PWYC-Preview May 10)

REQUIREMENTS:

  • One 1 - 2-minute memorized dramatic monologue
  • One Broadway style song in the style of THE FULL MONTY, but not from this musical
  • Accompanist provided, but you must bring sheet music; youmay bring a music-only accompaniment CD
  • Bring a headshot or a current picture to the audition

ROLES:
With the exception of the role of Nathan, all other roles require that participants be 18 years of age or older at the time of the auditions. In addition, Jerry, Dave, Malcolm, Ethan, Noah, Harold or Buddy (Keno) will be spending several scenes in only their underwear and may be doing “the full monty” in a deftly-timed blackout.

  • Harold Nichols, an unemployed supervisor at the same mill (Baritone / Tenor)
  • Vicki Nichols, his wife (Soprano 2/ Alto1 with a belt)
  • Malcolm Macgregor, an unemployed mill worker (Tenor)
  • Molly Macgregor, his ailing mom (non-singing role)
  • Ethan Girard, an unemployed mill worker (Baritone / Tenor)
  • Noah (Horse) T. Simmons, a retired mill worker (Baritone / Tenor)
  • Jeanette Burmeister, a piano player of indeterminate years (Alto)
  • Buddy (Keno) Walsh, a male stripper (non-singing role)
  • Reg Willoughby, an unemployed mill worker (non-singing role)
  • Tony Giordano, a Buffalo club owner (non-singing role)
  • Estelle Genovese, Jerry’s occasional girl friend (Soprano 2/ Alto1)
  • Susan Hershey, a friend of Pam and Georgie’s (Soprano 2/ Alto1)

BAINBRIDGE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA AUDITIONS FOR 2011-2012 SEASON

The Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra is holding auditions for the 2011-2012 Season. Players of all instruments are encouraged to audition, especially bassoon, trumpet, violin, viola and basses. Details regarding the structure of the auditions are provided below. Please read carefully.

When/Where: September 7, 2011. Auditions are held at Bainbridge Performing Arts. Please arrive 15 minutes early and look for signs directing you to the warm-up and audition rooms.

What to prepare: Please prepare two contrasting works of your choice that display the depth of your musical sensitivity and range of technical ability. You may prepare solo material, etudes or excerpts. Be prepared to play a total of 5-8 minutes of music. For percussion, please prepare solos or excerpts of your choice for snare drum, xylophone or glock, and an auxiliary instrument of your choice. Sight-reading for all instruments may be requested, music will be provided on site.

Season Information: Performance dates for Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra’s 2011-2012 Season are November 12 & 13, 2011; March 3 & 4, 2012; and April 21 & 22, 2012. Rehearsals, which are generally held during the eight weeks prior to each concert set, begin September 28, on Wednesday evenings, 7:00 – 9:30 p.m. at BPA, 200 Madison Avenue North, Bainbridge Island, unless otherwise arranged.

Music has always been at the heart of the BPA mission, and our commitment stands undiminished to this day. It has the backing of a well-organized Board and a thriving institution. It takes a lively community of musicians and listeners to make such a commitment sustainable, and we thank the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra musicians and audience members for their part in keeping our music program lively and growing. The 2011-2012 season promises to bring surprise, energy, and a high level of music making to Bainbridge Island. Join us as we embark on a journey with our new Music Director and Conductor, Wesley Schulz!
